A great day at Lancaster Raceway as 124 competitor's take part

A great day at Lancaster Raceway, East Kirkby and a total of 124 competitor's taking part. Of those we had 50 riders from the MCN Live ride out from Butlins taking part, trophies for the top three going to David Kisby, Paul Milton and Karl Vella who were separated by just 3/100ths of a second.

Of the 13 scooters taking part Glen Husselbee won the 16.10 class, Dom Shurety the 15.10 class Russell Shea the 14.10 class and Eric Cope 13.10. Top scooter and new class record went to Adam Chaplin with a stunning 12.17sec at 103 mph breaking the previous record by. 55 of a second on the twist and go Gilera Runner. Stuart Grant took the trophy for the 12.10 class, an impressive performance by Chris Graily earned him the trophy for 11.10 class, Michael Austin taking 10.10 after sorting some machine problems and Wayne Bradley the 9.10 class, his 9.25sec run earning him the fastest time of the day trophy as well.

Phil Wood was winner of Top Bike despite struggling with machine maladies. Young Levi Baber was mightily impressive on the Genspeed junior machine taking a new junior record running a 16.56 to break the record by 2 tenths and that after a quick engine change after the end snapped off the crank!!He also ran a new personal best at 16.33 to win the NSA junior class. Of the NSA classes Rob Maltby won Racing 50, Ron Phillips racing 125, Adrian Sanders racing 250 Colin Fallows racing 400.

It was nice to see John Hobbs out on his Olympus machine taking 500 racing before destroying the motor with a monumental blow up showering the track with bits of crank and crankcase. John Fawcett was victorious in 750 racing and Dave Clee 1000 racing Phil Wood the winner of unlimited racing . Dick Craven with his brace of Vincents taking both the 500 vintage and unlimited vintage post, 46.Tony Bracey rode his pre 46 Vellocette 250 to take 350 vintage. An usually reliable day was had by Paul Priestley on the Lambretta had him take home the scooter trophy, Tony Johnson classic non jap up to 500, Les Bellamy classic jap up to 500 and finally Trevor Smedley classic jap over 500.

With a spectator crowd of just over 300 including the MCN Live contingent this was one of the best turnouts at Lancaster Raceway. Thanks to all who attended and hope to see you again.
